An Elizabeth man stopped for suspicion of DWI is in for some trouble. Driving with his headlights off in the overnight hours, Kevin Taylor, 39, was spotted barreling through two traffic cones before being pulled over by Port Authority police near the Holland Tunnel in Jersey City. Taylor failed a field sobriety test and a Breathalyzer, which showed his blood-alcohol content to be at .12. Taylor was charged with DWI, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license after it was discovered that his license has been suspended both in New Jersey and Florida.
New Jersey has stringent rules when it comes to a license suspension for DWI in NJ, and thousands of drivers have been caught up in the vicious cycle of having a license suspended, getting caught driving on a suspended license, and then facing the prospect of years without the ability to drive.
