Adding visibility at a construction site turned out to be a more eventful shift than anticipated for Morristown police Officer Michael Puskas, whose vehicle was struck head on overnight in January.
He was in his vehicle within a construction zone where barricades and cones were set out, with his emergency lights flashing to help ensure the safety of motorists and workers alike.
Around 12:55 a.m., a 2002 Toyota Rav 4 driven by 20-year-old John Paulsen, also of Morristown, crashed through the barricades and cones and collided head on with Officer Puskas’s patrol car.
Both cars suffered extensive damage, as did another patrol car operating at the scene, and Officer Puskas was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. He was released later.
John Paulsen was uninjured in the crash, but officers on the scene later arrested him for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Assault by Auto, and DWI, as well as a series of motor vehicle summons.
These types of charges would put anyone’s future at risk, and anyone facing them should find capable legal help right away.
